Right after my surgery I plot specific goals for every area of in my life as well as weight loss specific milestones I wanted to effect. Then I wrote out detailed plans for how I would achieve each of those goals. I wrote out those plans with pen and paper and has very specific tasks for each of the areas of health I wanted to work on. This is the type of plan that must be written down, not just a daydream in your head – perform it real by writing it down and having a specific plan for change. Over the past three years I’ve revisited those goals and tasks list – revised and edited them as I have grown and developed. The areas of my life I space goals for included:
• physical health
• spiritual health
• financial health
• vocational health
• intellectual health
• emotional health
• relationships health
• character health
This journey of weight loss is not only about some number on a scale or the size jeans we wear – it’s about becoming a healthy person in every aspect of our life. By setting specific goals for what you want to change, you have control over the changes that will take place in your life.
Section your goals with loved ones and maintain a journal to track your progress. Embrace the change you want to see in your life. Change is a good thing. Yes, really.
I’m a happier person than I was before my weight loss journey. I’m happy. And I didn’t even know that I wasn’t fully happy before. Change is fantastic. You’ll fancy the person you become.
